LEGO Automaton - BathTime from Tonyflow76 - building instructions and ready to build set available on Planet GBC

Bath Time

BathTime is a LEGO automaton representing a man in his bath, scratching his back with his brush. Colorful LEGO bricks surrounding him inside the bathtub give him envy to whistle in his bath while washing. This truly awesome build is another masterpiece from TonyFlow76, inspired by one of his preferred wooden automata, “The spaghetti eater” by Paul Spooner. The plumbing at the base of the automaton is hiding a complex mechanism which animates the bubbles in the bath, the moves of the character head, the water that comes out of the taps and the arm holding the brush. The presentation video reveals some of the hidden secrets from this build, but still, the motion of the scene is definitely breath-taking. TonyFlow76, designer from this MOC, had to use all of his building talent for the shape of the bath, but also to make sure that the “water” is not jamming the mechanism. Bring the poetry from this build back home now thanks to building instructions or ready-to-build set available on Planet GBC.

  1. Was just wondering why you used 1×1 square plates vs round to simulate bath water. Would the round plates cause problems with the mechanics of the design?

    1. hi Kaelin, well this is TonyFlow76 choice. Maybe this is a visual choice. There are several technic plates that are located underneath the “water” to prevent the 1×1 square plates from jamming the mechanism. I suppose 1×1 round plates can be used either (though not tested)
